Castle Museum

Castle Museum

The castle museum is part of the Castle Friedenstein built in 1643 and is anything but “dusty”. Here in the museum you can marvel at how people lived at the court before 370. The living and entertainment rooms are largely unchanged and combine three styles. Baroque, Rococo and Classicism all united under one roof. Do not forget the Kunstkammer (chamber of art), which was founded by Duke Ernst I of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg. Take a look into the “Neue Münzkabinett” during your tour and experience one of the largest collections of coins in Germany.
